Britten Inc and Michigan International Speedway to Sponsor Charity Ride Kick-Off Event - 07/01/2008

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (July 1, 2008) – The 14th Anniversary Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America will celebrate its official kick off at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa on Friday, July 11.  The event has been made possible by Michigan-based companies Britten Inc and Michigan International Speedway.

Britten, the leading provider of high-quality, large-format, full-color banner solutions, will donate Charity Ride-branded signage for the event.

“When we heard the Kyle Petty Charity Ride was launching from Traverse City, it was a no brainer for us to get involved for several reasons,” said Paul Britten, president, Britten Inc.  “First, providing opportunities for joy and laughter to chronically ill children is truly a worthwhile cause.  Second, the Charity Ride has close ties to the NASCAR community, of which Britten is a proud member.  And finally, Britten is located in Traverse City, and helping make the Charity Ride launch a success in our hometown is simply the right thing to do.  We are incredibly proud to be involved.”

Michigan International Speedway will sponsor a reception for ride participants and community leaders following the public kick off.

“We are thrilled to be a part of such an amazing event as the Kyle Petty Charity Ride,” said Roger Curtis, president of Michigan International Speedway.  “Kyle and Pattie Petty are everything that’s right about NASCAR and their hard work makes the lives of so many kids and their families easier.  It’s exciting to share the state of Michigan with the great riders participating in this year’s event, and we wish everyone involved a safe and happy journey through our beautiful state.”

The kick-off event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Jazz Live Field, located on the ground of Grand Traverse Resort & Spa.  It is free and open to the public.  Event participants include NASCAR driver and Charity Ride founder Kyle Petty, Pattie Petty, Victory Junction Gang Camp presidents Mike Lepore and Dean Kessel, and Traverse City Mayor Michael Estes.  Other notable attendees include NASCAR legend Harry Gant, football great Herschel Walker and golfer Davis Love III.

“We have been overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Traverse City community, and we are so grateful to Britten and Michigan International Speedway for their support of the Charity Ride,” said Petty.  “Together we can make this year’s Ride the most successful yet – and provide life-changing experiences to even more children.”
