From TC to Bristol, and beyond

TRAVERSE CITY---Bristol Motor Speedway, the official site of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events, is reducing its carbon footprint one banner at a time.

Bristol has commissioned priorLIFE to recycle its old NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event banners into one-of-a-kind vinyl tote bags, coolers and wallets that were sold at last month’s event and will be featured at the upcoming race in August.

The firm, priorLIFE, is a subsidiary of Britten Banners - a leading provider of high-quality, large-format, banner and display solutions based in Traverse City.

Bristol is the first NASCAR series facility to offer its patrons such a unique piece of event history. priorLIFE is a company that refabricates old vinyl outdoor banners into collectible merchandise and accessories such as tote bags, wallets, and more. Each priorLIFE item has a tag that tells the story of its “prior life,” or where the original banner hung.

“This program is right for so many reasons,” said Jeff Byrd, president of Bristol Motor Speedway. “We love the idea of reusing our old event banner material and other recycled materials to make new, ‘green’ souvenirs that our patrons can feel good about buying and carrying.”

“Major sporting events view the use of priorLIFE products as a source of revenue generation where one previously didn’t exist,” said Pam Klumpp, priorLIFE director. “The process is environmentally friendly, cost effective and satisfies a dedicated fan base’s need to own nostalgic pieces of their favorite sporting event’s history.”

Not only are the priorLIFE products helping reduce Bristol Motor Speedway’s carbon footprint, but a portion of the sales proceeds will also benefit the Speedway Children’s Charities, an organization that aims to care for children in educational, financial, social and medical need in order to help them lead productive lives. More info is available at www.speedwaycharities.org.

The priorLIFE bags will also be sold online through priorLIFE.com and bristolmotorspeedway.com.
